Producing Promoting Touring

With extensive experience in artist/tour management, Cadencia Productions works with artists from around Australia and internationally to present, promote and produce shows.  Take a look at some of the projects we’ve worked on recently

La Melodia del Tango

Australia’s only Orquesta Típica Melbourne Tango Orchestra visit Sydney for one night only on Saturday July 10 to bring a night of traditional tango with an urban flair to Sydney’s Max Watts, Moore Park. Collaborating with dancers from Belen Silva Tango, the 11 piece orchestra headed by Stephen Cuttriss, will bring a modern edge to a classical artform.

With sell-out shows across Melbourne and regional Victoria through 2019, the MTO draws upon a wealth of experience.
The MTO kicks the cliché and pursues contemporary, urban and edgy tango music performing repertoire from tango’s Golden Era and beyond, featuring strings, piano, double bass and the notorious bandoneón, the quintessential symbol of Argentinean tango. Enriched by the charming voice of vocalist Juan Veron, these dedicated musicians along with stunning dancers bring La Melodia del Tango to life.

“…a unique opportunity to enjoy authentic tango. This is the real deal: expect blood, sweat, and plenty of marcato” C

MTO traces its roots to the cradle of tango with members born and raised in Argentina and Uruguay.  The orchestra is home to multi-instrumentalists and career ethnomusicologists who specialise in tango and who have completed doctoral fieldwork in Buenos Aires. The MTO also boasts award winning musicians who have studied with Ramiro Gallo, Hernan Possetti and Ignacio Varchausky.

The concert would not be complete without the addition of tango dancers, weaving their fast footwork, beauty and emotion through the vivid, visceral music of the orchestra. Dancers will perform choreographies by nationally acclaimed Tango dancer and choreographer Belen Silva. After more than a decade of teaching and performing throughout Argentina and Japan, Silva is now based in Sydney and has made a name for herself throughout Australia and New Zealand, performing and teaching at a number of festivals and events in both countries over the last 7 years.

Arrebato Ensemble

Three passionate musicians who write with all aspects of their heart, Arrebato Ensemble create a mesmerising and highly dynamic journey for their audience. The group’s music is primarily contemporary flamenco, with elements of classical, jazz, film soundtrack and folk music creating beautifully dynamic and emotive concerts.

2018 saw the launch of the new album Sophia’s Dream, and a tour of the East Coast of Australia. In 2019 the group toured extensively for Musica Viva Australia with sell out shows throughout the country.

The group’s previous albums drew critical acclaim with John Shand describing that while their music “moves from pure flamenco in favour of a more contemporary style, the spirit, a dramatic, sexually charged and haughty sadness, remains intact.” (SMH)

Ay Pachanga

Ay Pachanga celebrates the world’s largest Latin label, Fania Records, and the music that made it famous.

Part performance, part dance party Ay Pachanga has been running for 4 years collaborating with various dancers and musicians across Sydney, to showcase the colourful diversity of Salsa.

Music Director Martin Taylor (Mucho Mambo) performs with a stellar line-up of top Australian musicians performing Latin boogaloo, salsa, and mambo – the Latin sounds of the ’60s and ’70s. Joining them on stage are award-winning dancers in a colourful showcase, celebrating the street styles of Latin New York in the Fania era.

Tango Poema

Premiering in Sydney, TANGO POEMA brings together world renowned tango dancers, Diana Cruz and Nick Jones and leading tango orchestra Mendoza Tango Quintet (Brisbane) to perform a night of elegant, intricate and sassy tango – through music and dance.

Mendoza Tango Quintet is one of Australia’s most loved Tango orchestras. Led by bandoneonist Stephen Cuttriss, the group are a favourite of dancers and Music lovers around Australia, due to Stephen’s personalised arrangements of some of the greatest pieces, and the calibre of musicians who make up the group. Buenos Aires born singer Solange Lipchin adds the poetic and lyrical dimension to the pieces.

Mendoza Tango Quintet will weave their way through the nostalgic stories and widely varied sounds of the genre, with Nick and Diana performing their own interpretation of certain pieces. This collaboration will reveal the magic of the Tango, showing the importance of the connection and passion through music, dance and storytelling.

Tour Management 2011-2016

Kooii’s music generates and inspires movement on all levels of being.

The cultivation of their music reflects the actions of a masterful gardener collecting seeds and clippings of the rhythms and songs that he is drawn to for their medicine and nourishment. African music, jazz and reggae are the significant contributors of the seeds of this music that grows in a garden of the soul.

Recent highlights in their performance history have been appearances at last year’s Splendour in the Grass, the Malasimbo Festival in the Philippines, the 2012 Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, and opening for Seun Kuti’s 2012 Brisbane Show.
